Greg “Pappy”
Boyington leads 44 USMC Corsairs over Simpson Harbour/Rabaul
on 27 December, 1943 along with 20 USN Hellcats. Boyington
was credited with one aerial victory (a Zero from the 253rd
Kokutai) on the mission.
